In a bizarre piece of captaincy Greg Mc sought to encourage his troops to play harder by driving golf balls at them. James McIntyre felt the full force of this, as a misdirected howitzer felled him in the middle of the fairway. The warning shout was heard but evasive action was rendered useless as the heat seeking Titlest warhead locked onto the nearest heat source. James took the message and won the long drive as well as winning 3&2.
Greg, obviously inspired by his accurate hitting, went on to win his match 8&7. Will took a valuable half point in a ding dong battle with Paul Tennant. Only two holes were halved in this match. But it was left to VP Alan Lee to bring in the winning point for the ROW as he won 3&1.
Securing the other consolation points for England were Captain Mike Rubber (5&4) and Sam D (4&3).
Hywel won the 15+ long drive, Phil the NP and Paul T won NP2.
So it is back to the drawing board for England. Rumour has it that approaches are being made to attract top English golf talent for next years match - Pudsey the bear has already been seen in training.
