Morton Wins, but slick Schick sneaks second amid insider trading controversy

Ex-Captain Smith tweaks nipple of winner Morton Win Gryffindor, who is in turn supported by "Bitcoin Schick".
Sutton Green was a fine venue for hosting the Presidents Cup, but unfortunately the President was missing and the cup was missing too. Still the Titans loss is Deeks gain as he gets to keep it for a second year having left it on the kitchen table. But the moanmeister was in great form as his first game in a year found that he had lost none of his swagger, but the swagger didn't help his swing much.

But the star of the show was the returning Martin Wyn Griffith who stole in from leafy surrey to grab a Million and go. Well done Martin - your handicap is definitely moving this time!

But in a year beset by controversy, there was more anguish at Titans Towers as yet another financial crisis loomed.
This time the shadow of suspicion fell upon IOC member Phil Schick whose steady climb up the money table to second place was questioned when rumours began around the alleged conversion of funds into Titans Bitcoins which were traded at Titans Towers into Titans dollars.

Titans Finance Director - Loadsamoney Nash - released a "no Comment" statement from his luxurious home on the Wentworth Estate. When pressed he said that "Titans Bitcoins" were worth much more than the Euro and certainly much more that the money hole prize.. President Frank Blatter - suspiciously relaxing on his sea-going yacht "Titanicus Coverup" explained that the Titans Bitcoin was an attempt to cash in on the famous Titans brand, but that forces unknown (allegedly  P Schick) were accumulating stockpiles of the purple lucre. Investigations continue.

Meanwhile the disgraced Schick shamelessly celebrated his second place by picking up £700k of real Titan dollars claiming that second was always best. Nick Bell collected 3rd place, nearest the pin and long drive to become the Titan with the most balls on the day. Keith celebrated his super titans success by screwing up his next round but did have the consolation of picking up NP2. Sam D collected his now traditional LD and Greg collected the money prize in an otherwise tragic round.

Can this week's winners catch the leaders? . . .

Saturday's winners are currently lying second to the current leaders.

However, The Ladies leader, Fay, is set to miss one or two of the last few games of the Summer season. This gives Rita the chance to cause an upset.

THE PREZ thought he had an unassailable lead and went on holiday (again) but Keith is now within a few small points of passing him and is gunning for the title.

As for the NP competition, there are three Ladies in joint first. It'll only take one of them to turn up and score for the decision to be made. Will is out in from for the Men's title but could be caught by the trailing pack.

There is still time but the end of season approaches. It was going to be the 17th of October to link to the end of the Titans Championship Tour but will now be delayed until the following week, the 24th (the Par 3 Director has gone AWOL - last seen trying to hijack a bus to get back from Twickenham after the bars ran dry!).

Nina & Keith smash dreams of 34 Titans

Keith worrying about his new handicap.
In glorious Early autumn sunshine ordered specially by the weather God Ospalla:
  • About 30 Titans looked like they had forgotten their sunscreen or had had too much Chardonnay
  • Scores were surprisingly low - normally scores in excess of 40 win at this event - perhaps the strict Titans drug protocols are kicking in.
  • Ex Captain Paul T somehow managed to avoid the Drug monitoring regime by pre-loading before the event and then staggered and fell around the course whilst amassing 31 points and ending 8th. A staggering performance Paul - True Titan qualities.
  • Prez was unsurprisingly lyrical during a mammoth 3 hour awards ceremony. But Lady Susan Byfield kept Prez Frank Blatter on his toes with a merciless commentary on his manhood  leading to lots of presidential chatter about "I'll see you later"
  • The men's champion elect struggled with a harsher handicap.
  • And new Super Titans Keith and Nina basked in the adulation of the assembled purple hordes.

In other news:
Keith picked up his first champions medal scoring 39 points, Andre McLaughlin was second with 37 and Matt Bassano third for the men (also with 37). Kevin Geary won NP, Sam D won NP2, and Will & Phil won the LD categories. Guy Bewick won the mens guest prize with an impressive 38 points.

Nina Humphries won the ladies competition with 38 points, Fay came a creditable 2nd with 37 points, and Fiona came in third. Jenny won LD with a monster drive (new driver obviously working) and Annabelle won NP2. Unfortunately no-one picked up the NP prize but as a bit of consolation Jenny Lawrence beat the men to the Money Hole prize.  Bringing a bit of Parisian flair and chic to the occasion was Meryll Gee who  lost her special antique Titans ball half way around the course only to have it presented back to her by Prez at the award ceremony! But she also picked up the Ladies Guest prize with a fantastic 33 points.

The BIG GRINS have it! . . .

By now we are used to Fay taking the honours on a Saturday morning at Dukes.

But was anyone more surprised than Azim? Thought not  . . . but a thoroughly deserved win. A Gross of 32 leading to a net win. What a score it would have been if he hadn't four putted the last!

Any downside? It was a bit wet and oh yes, a deserved handicap cut for both winners.

The handicaps seem to be working with four Men netting the same for 2nd through 5th with the Best Gross score only coming in 4th!
