What a load of balls at the Shire

Ok I know that I am denying the winner top spot in this weeks blog but the star of the show was the stupendously difficult Shire course which claimed a total of 52 Titans balls. Given that only 12 Titans played that surely means that the chances of a new generation of mini-me Titans being created are severely dented. Phil Schick post match presentation was a full octave higher.

And by an amazing co-incidence the winner was Mini-Me Will Smith who shot a very respectable 30 points on a tough course just shading out Titans Super Star Pat Carr.

A striking resemblance!
Trailing far behind in third place was Greg Mc on 24 pts, followed by Nick, Andre and Phil with scores that would win the old coot in previous years.

Pat won NP, Will won NP2 (Just as well Prez didn't see that selection), and Phil & Kam hit the best drives.

It was certainly a fun day at the wonderful Shire which was rated 8/10 by the Titans and the bacon bap was almost "Shire" perfection and picked up a score of 8 for its crunchy bap, and well grilled tasty bacon. Shame that it took so long to arrive - mind you the same could be said about Andre who only just made it in time!

Next up is Captain Day at Pyrford. Looking forward to it.

Low turnout gives Pat his chance . . .

No-one knows what kept the Titans away from a warm, balmy morning at Dukes. Little wind to trouble anyone didn't stop Hely, Johnnie and Phil donating to the RNLI!

But it was Pat with his slow, languorous swing (i.e. hungover from a night bopping at Wembley) who took the honours this morning - plus a couple of NP points.

Alex couldn't repeat his birdie fest of last week (or was he 'managing' his handicap for next week when he takes on the mantle of the purple shirt?).

Fay missed Rita's challenge (lie the proverbial 'hole   - - -') and only managed a 40 on her way to picking up the points (and back to first in the chase to the title)

Back to Back Super Titans wins for peerless Leung

39 points to win the 2015 Autumn Super-Titans secured Keith his first Titans Major and a severe handicap cut.  But he was not deterred as he secured back-to-back Super Titans titles with an even better 43 points and an even more severe cut to follow!  Only one other golfer has achieved this amazingly difficult feat - Titans hall of famer Pat Carr achieved this in 2009 which perhaps explains his cries of "Cut Him" at Pine Ridge last week!

Keith proud to receive the trophy. Capt. America blinded by his shorts.
And in the ladies competition Annabelle Arber Smith compiled a brilliant round using a collection of rusty, dented and bent clubs from Phil Schick's new "Urban Garage" range of upcycled shabby Schick (get it?) golf clubs.  Don't expect to see it in shops soon.  Just have a look down the back of your garage / shed.

Smiley Annabelle wins Super Titans - Nina even smilier.
Two times winner of the Super Titans Paul Tennant was second in the gents section (37 points) with VP Lee taking third place (36 pts and 4 birdies!). This was enough to secure him top spot on the Titans 2016 money board. Oak Park champion Lutyens kept up his good form with 4th place just ahead of the Prez on countback (34 pts). Another notable performance was from Captain America himself who brandished an amazing star spangled banner set of shorts in an attempt to dazzle his opponents. It succeeded in parts with an improved 30 points for 9th place.  However when Rita swooned at the sight of the flag on those tanned legs she lost control of her buggy which subsequently crashed down the steps! Impressive.

Where is your trolley Rita?

There it is!
Kam Chaturachina picked up the guest prize in a high scoring competition with ----- Himself.  An amazing 41 points has caught the eyes of the Titans handicap tzar as has his recent sub-par round at Dukes. You know what is coming Kam.

VP boosted his standing at the top of the money board by winning NP, Winner Keith also won NP whilst Frank Walters and Greg McErlean won the Long Drive category prizes.

And the Titans giving did not stop there. Phil Schick sponsored the 6th hole and Greg McErlean the 12th and Kam won them both.  A fantastic shot by First Lady Susan won the money hole.

It was a fun day in the Pine Ridge sun made all the more enjoyable by the quality of the bacon rolls provided by the Pine Ridge kitchen.  A lightly buttered bap encased in an interior of generous crispy salty bacon rashers. High quality fare not seen since Harleyford. The Titans spiritual home again delivers the goods - (9 out of 10) with very good playing conditions (8 out of 10).

Only thing better than this is a Birdie on the first (or just landing in the fairway from the drive)

Rita and Kam gain revenge . . .

. . . the battle of the TITANS continues.

Stung by the wins of their arch rivals  (Fay & Chris) last week, Rita and Kam struck back this week with a string of birdies - four by Kam!

No wonder there are big grins on certain faces!

Low scores seemed to be the order of the day with all bar 2 gross below 40 and two rounds of net below par. The handicapper was least seen grumbling on his way out to the car park! (probably more to do with his own poor round).

Keith Leung came a creditable third after his massive score last week at Pine Ridge. Could regular play at Dukes give him an opportunity to upset the front runners?

Watch this space next week for the next instalment of the competition - we're not even half way through the Summer tour!

. . . but Chris still snatched the win from Kam despite Kam's two birdies.

We welcomed a new Titan as Thomas joined the ranks (that's him in the background, sneaking into the photo!) and two guests in Diane (NZ) and Alex (OZ) - the overseas players are beginning to overcome the Brits!

Fay's announcing was enhanced by her win as well as Doreen pushing Rita into third (see smiley person below!). Not that there is any rivalry between the two - they're too ladylike (oh yeah!).
