Slightly easier win for Jane with only two Ladies participating. Keith only made it by one shot.
Despite it being a beautiful, sunny morning the scores were not great with Best Gross of 40 and 33. Jane's handicap was enough for her to pip that.

Rita and Will as winners of last season's Par 3 competition, have nominated 'The Upper Room' as the beneficiary of any wayward shots on the 1st hole at Dukes Meadow. Known as the 'Presidential Hollow', its attraction has found many Titans donating over the past years - sometimes more that the usual £1 if they enter its maw on the second or even third shot!
So where was Sam's bad back? A cracking round of 29 Gross saw Sam take an easy first place from the 'also rans'. But it was Jenny Paxman with a Gross score of 30 who left all the Ladies gasping in her wake as she cruised to an easy win by eight Net shots - also beating everyone including all the Men - bar Sam. There was a welcome back for Jack Geary after an absence of three years and we had a new Guest, Judy Gilmartin, introduced by Jenny Lawrence. After another night on the tiles VP turned up to Caversham Heath and after a few early coughs and splutters he got into gear and motored to another sub 36 point victory, narrowly pipping Neil Cannon on count back. This is despite him obviously trying to protect his handicap on the 17th. With vultures circling overhead he put his tee shot in the water and then from the drop zone managed to chip it into the water again! The Titans ethics committee will be convened to consider whether a further 2 shot cut will be imposed. Further information to be included is his astonishing performance at the heavily bunkered par 4 10th. A drive to the far right hand side of the fairway left a difficult approach which Alan put long and right ending up in a scrape guarded by a large plant behind the ball. He managed to advance the ball 15m and then pitched the ball over the back of the green! However he got two points by putting in from off the green. Spare a thought for recent Hall of Fame entrant James McIntyre whose struggles on the back nine are well illustrated here. And finally the minor prizes winners were: Long Drive (professionals) - Paul Tennent Long drive (hackers) - Greg McErlean NP - James McIntyre NP2 - Alan Lee Money - Andre McLaughlin A little bit of rain didn't stop those with true TITANIC values braving Dukes Meadow on the morning of 7th June. Clearly forecasts of rain, thunder and lightening were not enough to keep spme away from their Saturday morning 'fix'. However, the winners were clearly happy to be in the clubhouse just before the heavens opened again. Jenny swept the board for the Ladies, taking Nearest-the-Pin as well as the win for a cool seven points. Frank was pushed hard by the Par 3 Director but a par, par finish was enough to see off the chasing pack. Phil got his own back by taking the Mens' Nearest-the-Pin by a yard or two from Frank. It was a great day at Pine Ridge today with two worthy champions crowned. Annabelle won the ladies competition and James McIntyre won the men's with 37points and picking up one million dollars. VP Alan Lee picked up second place to enhance his lead at the top of the money table. And in other news Father Peter Doherty was having such a good day with his "tree wood" that after finding himself behind yet another tree on the 15th that he dropped to his knees and said a few prayers that he could chop this one out of trouble. His prayers were answered. well done Father D. |
