THE END OF THE PAR 3 WINTER 2015-16 . . .

. . . . we had a blustery end to the winter 2015-16 season. The winners on the day were Susan and Kam. The one returning from a long winter's lay-off the other returning to the form we were becoming used to until he had a lesson!

Both were very happy at the result.

THEN CAME THE SEASON'S RESULTS:

Rita walked off with all the Ladies' prizes.

There was more competition in the Men's group with Frank and Graham sharing NP but the runaway winner of the winter season was Pat:

Campbell wins first tour event

It came as quite a surprise to the IOC that this was Philips first Titans victory - but it was. No longer the journeyman pro - he has popped his Titans Blueberries (look it up!) with a remarkably low winning score of 31 points. The Titans first visit to beautiful Harleyford was eventful and memorable.

First we had to negotiate the Harleyford Security system. Our Guest John Maxwell was so frightened of trying to get past the security that he caught a train, walked to the course and jumped the stalag type razor wire fence to get to play golf - true Titans spirit but next time ask one of us for a lift!!
it was good to be welcomed to the clubhouse with a personal typed message but it was spectacularly good to be rewarded with a danish pastry and one of the best bacon baps that has ever been had on tour. Poor injured Prez could hardly contain his joy. He has issued this formal press statement statement - "Harleyford bacon bap gets 5 Titan stars. 4 crispy rashers on a lightly toasted soft warm bap makes this one of the best pre golf fillers on the tour, glad our last match of the season will be here!"
The course looked defenceless on a beautiful spring day - wide forgiving fairways, no water, and very few bunkers but we were lulled into a false sense of security as most Titans three putted virtually every green. The best downhill putts rolled 12 feet past, whilst uphill putts needed rocket boosters. If you did manage to judge the pace right then the left to right putt you envisaged usually turned out to be the other way around. If you think that you drained a putt from 20 feet then you were dreaming - or immensely lucky.

The Titanic Harleyford Bacon Bap

Only Phillip had more than 30 points - in second place was poet Charles Lutyens sneaking past VP Lee on count back with 29 points. Soon to be crowned Par 3 winter champion Pat Carr took fourth with 28 points. Captain America Lockard stole 5h place from a shattered Greg McErlean on count back with 27 points. VP Lee and P Schick won the long drive prizes, Will Smith won NP2 and Nick Bell stole NP from a hopping mad Carr! Sam D won the money hole.

Twas a brisk and overcast morning
When the Titans went to play
Six men and one lone woman
With three clubs each that day
There was much anticipation
With excitement in the air
Would Phil's bad run continue?
Alas, he was not there!
Would they be philanthropic
As Titans knew they ought to?
Who would grace the President's hollow
Or go into the water?
Who would win the trophy
Would Prez or Pat or Nasher?
Would Fay bring home the bacon
Or would Judge Rita thrash her?
The Titans stood around
Politely as they do
The announcer took his time
As was his right to do
Impatiently they grew
And called him to hurry up
Desperate to know
Who had won the cup
The announcer called for silence
The scores had been totted up
A hush fell on the crowd
The results were ... dot dot dot

I'm not sure that the Poet Laureate should be too concerned just yet!
